We are a society based around students studying Civil Engineering courses, but membership is open to anyone with related interests. Our aim is to: "Unite all those interested in Civil Engineering and the construction industry, providing opportunities for networking, socialising, academic support and professional development.”

Our aim is to unite all those interested in civil engineering and the construction industry and promote opportunities for networking, socialising, academic support and professional development.
As a society we aim to provide plenty of opportunities to engage with the industry. This includes providing opportunities to see construction sites and learn about a wide scale of projects.
We also hold a number of socials throughout the year with the aim of allowing students from different year groups to interact and share knowledge and advice, particularly on civil engineering contracting and consultancy summer placements.

President
- The President shall oversee the organisation and management of the Group and the Committee as a whole; ensure the officers’ accountability to Members, the Committee, and the Students’ Union; and represent the Group to all external interests.
Treasurer
- The Treasurer shall oversee the financing of the Group, set the Group's budget, and maintain the accounts of the Group.
Welfare Secretary
- Providing support to all members of the society and the committee in terms of mental and physical wellbeing.
Secretary
- The Secretary shall oversee the administration of the Group, take minutes at General Meetings and Meetings of the Committee, and maintain the register.
Trips Secretary
- The Trips Secretary shall be responsible for organising site visits and excursions to support students’ understanding of civil engineering design and construction. This includes contacting industry professionals, liaising with university staff and organising relevant transport and logistics.
Vice-President
- The Vice-President shall support the President in their responsibilities. They are responsible for maintaining an up-to-date Risk Assessment for Group activities and leading the organisation of the Group’s democratic processes. They shall also support, and be supported by, the Social Secretary in the promotion and maintenance of the overall Group ethos.
Membership Information
These are the current membership fees offered by Civil Engineering Society, although many clubs and societies offer a free period for new members to try out their activities.
