The University of Southampton Video Games & Esports Society, or SVGE for short, aims to provide a community hub for gamers of all kinds at the University of Southampton and partner institutions. We aim to cater to all those interested in video gaming in any capacity - from casual to competitive, to those who simply enjoy watching video game streams.
Along with our large online presence, SVGE hosts frequent socials across Southampton which are a great opportunity to meet those with similar interests and socialise!

ESPORTS
As the second best Esports University in the UK, we compete in the British University Esports Championships (https://www.nse.gg/) and University Student Showdown (https://ussesports.com/) which hosts tourneys for:
- Valorant
- Overwatch
- League of Legends
- Marvel Rivals
- Rocket League
- CS2
- Rainbow Six Siege
- Apex Legends
- TFT
- Splatoon
and participate in many LAN events across the country!
University esports is open to everyone regardless of skill level with us having ~50 teams across all game titles in 2025/26 with a wide variety of ranks and skill levels.

These are the current membership fees offered by Video Games & Esports Society, although many clubs and societies offer a free period for new members to try out their activities.

This membership lasts for the full academic year and allows the society to put on bigger and better events. | |
| Paid Membership 26/27 | £3.99 | 24/08/2026 - 01/07/2027 | As well as supporting the society financially, you will gain FREE access to ticketed events, increased customisation in our discord server (select colour of username), access to our society discounts (keep an eye out for announcements in regards to this) and access to free coaching for select games. |
