Irish Dance Society

Welcome to Southampton University's Irish Dance Society! The Irish Dance Society was founded in May 2014 and members will have the opportunity to learn different styles of Irish Dance, including soft-shoe, hard-shoe, and ceili group dancing, taught by our Irish Dance Teacher Molly alongside various workshops throughout the year. We welcome dancers of any ability, whether it is your first time trying Irish Dance, or if you've been dancing for years! We perform as part of USD's annual show 'Pure Dance' where we showcase several routines we have rehearsed over the year, alongside the other Southampton University Dance Societies. In addition, there is an opportunity to audition and be part of a competition squad, who compete at inter-university competitions across the country, throughout the academic year! The Irish Dance Society also holds fun socials from nights out, to pizza evenings, theatre trips, workshops and many more, alongside joining the rest of USD (Union Southampton Dance) on the wider dance socials.
