Sub-Aqua (Scuba Diving)
Scuba dive in the UK and abroad during your degree! SUSAC is the University of Southampton’s branch of BSAC (British Sub-Aqua Club), and we welcome everyone - from complete beginners to qualified divers trained with any organisation. Learn to dive, improve your current qualification, or simply enjoy regular diving with us. Our fully qualified instructors run training at highly competitive prices, from beginner courses through to advanced diver grades and specialist Skill Development Courses. Alongside diving, we also run a variety of socials throughout the year, giving you the chance to meet like-minded people who share a passion for adventure, skill-building, and the marine world. SUSAC is open to all students, staff, and alumni. You do not currently need Sport and Wellbeing membership to join or take part in any of our activities. All you need is SUSAC membership, and if you want to dive, you’ll also need BSAC membership for insurance purposes. However we are in discussion with Southampton Sport about a monthly pool session for practising skills, and if this comes to fruition you will need a Sport Pass to access this activity (more details to come!)
With SUSAC you can explore the UK’s best dive sites - from wrecks like the Valentine Tanks, packed with shoals of bib, lobsters, and cuttlefish, to scenic dives at Chesil Beach and macro-packed Swanage Pier. Every year we also run exciting overseas trips, such as Malta for stunning underwater landscapes or Egypt for amazing megafauana such as manta rays or sharks, and snorkel adventures like swimming with blue sharks in Wales.
Whether you’re here to learn, to keep diving during your degree, or just to make new friends and join our socials, SUSAC has something for everyone. Come join us, get involved, and make the most of your time at Southampton both above and below the water!

These are the current membership fees offered by Sub-Aqua (Scuba Diving) , although many clubs and societies offer a free period for new members to try out their activities.

| Full Year Diving Membership | £49.00 | 23/09/2025 - 23/09/2026 | The Full Year Diving Membership is our best value option. It gives you access to reduced club kit hire, boat access, training sessions, socials, and the full range of club facilities. BSAC membership is required for this option and must be purchased separately through the BSAC website. Choosing the full year membership also offers a saving of £11.00 compared to semester memberships. | |
| Full Year Snorkel Membership | £15.00 | 23/09/2025 - 23/09/2026 | The Full Year Snorkel Membership is designed for those who prefer snorkelling. It provides the same benefits as the diving membership, including training, boat access, and socials, but does not include scuba diving training except where required for safety. This membership can be upgraded to a Full Year Diving Membership with the approval of the SUSAC committee, in which case you will only need to pay the difference. Upgrading grants you the full benefits of a diving membership in addition to those already included in snorkel membership. | |

| Instructor Membership | FREE | 23/09/2025 - 23/09/2026 | Instructor Membership is a free option reserved for those approved by the SUSAC committee. Eligible instructors must deliver at least three training sessions each year and will receive full access to kit and all club activities. Do not sign up unless you have SUSAC committee approval or your membership will not be recognised! |
