Interested in first aid, problem solving, swimming or lifeguarding? Lifesaving could be the perfect sport for you!
Lifesaving as a sport consists of two parts; one where your first aid, teamwork, and emergency skills are tested, and one where you swim competitively in rescue style races.
At Southampton Lifesaving, we embrace the spirit of lifesaving to the fullest! Training hard for competitions, celebrating the successes amongst the club, but most importantly, having fun!!
During our 3 training sessions a week, we practice for comps, improve our fitness and learn real life first aid and rescue techniques. Throughout the year we will cover all of the content required for the RLSS NLA Pool Bronze Star award, running assessments in semester two!
We take part in numerous competitions across UK universities as a part of BULSCA, including running our very own competition! Competitions consist of 'dry' and 'wet' first aid scenario, where your team of 4 has 2 minutes to effectively treat injured casualties, and swimming races, including rope throw, swim & tow, manikin carry and swimming with fins. Everything is judged and scored, and results announced at a social, run by the hosting club, in the evening!
To balance all that hard work, we run weekly socials throughout the year! From board games to nights out, there’s a social for everyone!

These are the current membership fees offered by Lifesaving, although many clubs and societies offer a free period for new members to try out their activities.
