Table Tennis
Come down to try out table tennis - it's a great way to meet new people! We welcome everyone, whether it be your first time picking up a racket or if you're a seasoned professional, we'll be sure to have someone for you to play against. You're welcome to bring friends along too, to finally settle who's better at table tennis. If you would like to improve your game join our Development team. 🏓Recreational Table Tennis🏓
Come along, play some table tennis and meet new people — no matter your ability.
Recreational Membership gives you access to three sessions a week during the academic year:
• Tuesday: 17:00–19:00
• Saturday: 12:00–15:00
• Sunday: 13:30–15:00
Our Recreational Sessions are a relaxed, judgement-free space where you can play matches, practise, have a chat or simply enjoy some table tennis. All levels are welcome.
Bats and balls are provided, so there’s no need to purchase your own equipment.
Your membership also gives you access to most SUTTC socials and events, giving you plenty of opportunities to meet other members on and off the table. Some events may have an additional cost.
Price: £40 for the academic year or
£21 per semester
Location: The Cube, level 2, Building 42 (SUSU)

🏓Development Table Tennis🏓
For players who want to train, improve and get more from their table tennis.
Development Membership gives you access to all of our Recreational Sessions, plus two additional Development only training sessions each week:
• Saturday Training: 10:00–12:00
• Sunday Training: 12:00–13:30
Our Development sessions are player-led and tailored to you by our Session Leads. Whether you’re completely new to table tennis or an experienced player looking to take your game further, sessions can be adapted to your goals, ability and areas for improvement.
All bats and balls are provided, although we recommend Development players consider getting their own racket as they progress to suit their individual playing styles.
Development Membership also gives you access to most SUTTC socials and events throughout the year. Some events may have an additional cost.
Price: £55 for the academic year
Location: Saturday training - SUSU Training room, level 1, Building 42 (SUSU)

President
- The President has the task of overseeing all matters regarding SUTTC. They are expected to help their committee whenever other committee members require help. The President also need to chair regular committee meetings and to arrange them whenever necessary. The President should have an ambitious vision for SUTTC to help develop it into one of the university's best sports clubs.
Treasurer
- The Treasurer has the task to look after and be responsible for SUTTC's finances. They must be able to report all incomings and expenditures of SUTTC during committee meetings as well as advise on whether there is money to spend. They would also be responsible for overseeing grant applications and to ensure they are submitted on time. The Treasurer will be the first point of call for team members looking to reimburse any expenditures (such as travel for BUCS matches) and must do so in a timely manner. Ideally, the Treasurer will be mathematically able and can keep records in spreadsheets.
Social Secretary
- The Social Secretary (or Secretaries) is responsible for all social aspects of SUTTC. This mainly consists of arranging social events which are always inclusive. They need to be able to plan, oversee and advertise any socials they wish to run.

Welfare Officer
- The Welfare Officer will be responsible for the wellbeing of SUTTC members. They will be open to any discussion regarding mental health, discrimination, accessibility and generally any issues that any of our members have. They should regularly check the welfaresuttc@soton.ac.uk email to reply to any confidential emails.
Men's Captain
- The Men's Captain has the responsibility to organise and oversee Wednesday's BUCS fixtures. They also have the role to work with the Coach and Women's Captain to organise trials each year. The Men's Captain must be a leader during matches and being experienced in table tennis would be beneficial.
Vice President
- The Vice President will need to know SUTTC as well as the President so that they can take the lead whenever the President is not around. They would need to work closely will the President. Their role description is similar to the President's so take a look at the President's role description for more details.
Membership Information
These are the current membership fees offered by Table Tennis, although many clubs and societies offer a free period for new members to try out their activities.
