As a follow-up to our workshop meeting last week on Andy Burnham's government, Socialist Students aims to ask what socialism is. More than ever, students are interested in socialism as an alternative to a world which isn't working for them. Wages are stagnant at an unprecedented rate, austerity is choking the life out of public services, and climate change is posing an existential crisis to the planet.

Why does socialism remain relevant to this day, and what does it have to do with Labour? As we argue, it provides the solution to the crises faced not only by students and young people, but the world as a whole.

The discussion will be a roundtable; feel free to voice your thoughts with respect to others' perspectives.

At the Socialist Students Society, we are a big tent of socialists at the university helping to organise for funding higher education, tenants’ rights for students, and promoting a world beyond capitalism.
