Socialist Students Society: Three years of the genocide in Gaza

7 Oct 2026,

Socialist Students Society

This workshop will discuss genocide, ethnic cleansing and racism, among related topics.

This Wednesday marks three years since the Palestinian genocide began. Gaza has been ravaged by Israel's onslaught of bombs, targeted killings and displacement. After the deaths of tens of thousands, coupled with ongoing apartheid and Israeli settlements, few events have radicalised the world quite like the plight of the Palestinians.

Socialist Students will be reflecting on the political consequences the genocide has in British and international politics. This has included the Greens' recent 'Zionism is racism' motion passing at their conference last week, and the impact of student activism against the genocide and apartheid, and for peace and justice.

The discussion will be a roundtable; feel free to voice your thoughts with respect to others' perspectives.

The Organisers

Socialist Students Society

At the Socialist Students Society, we are a big tent of socialists at the university helping to organise for funding higher education, tenants’ rights for students, and promoting a world beyond capitalism. Together with other groups in Southampton and beyond, we are committed to empowering young people to make a difference in politics. We come from all backgrounds, united in solidarity. Politics isn’t just something which happens to us. Instead, we should make politics happen!
