Athletics & Cross Country
Southampton University Athletics and Cross-Country Club provides training and competition opportunities for all levels. Competitions include Varsity vs Portsmouth, BUCS XC, BUCS indoors and BUCS outdoors (British University and College Sport). We also have a team in the Hampshire cross country league, and regularly have team trips to open events through out the year, including FNUL events at Battersea Park, Telford 10k, LUCA opens, Watford opens and many more (we have England Athletics affiliation, so all performances can be recorded on Power of 10, if you are not already a member of a club at home)
About Athletics & Cross Country
Hi! We’re the Southampton University Athletics & Cross-Country Club!We pride ourselves on being an all-inclusive, socially active club. Our committee is dedicated to helping each and every member achieve their own specific goals. We offer a wide range of training so that all of our members feel comfortable from complete beginners up to members competing at the highest standards. As well as training sessions led by our coaches, we also run weekly casual group runs and long runs. With up to six sessions a week, you can join in whatever your schedule! We are very fortunate to offer high-level coaching to our members through our UKA-accredited coaches, Steve Phillips & Jim Davies (Endurance) and Michael Coker (Sprint). We enter many team competitions throughout the year including BUCS Cross Country, BUCS Indoors, BUCS Outdoors, Hampshire League Cross Country and Varsity vs Portsmouth. We also support our members across individual events, arranging transport when possible. Over the past 3 years we have been the university with the biggest presence at many nationwide meets, including the Comeback5000, and the legendary Watford open. We also go on a sunny tour every year, in the past two years we have gone to Tenerife and Malta - this is a definite highlight of the year!We run a wide range of regular socials for our members to get to know each other better and forget about the stresses of university life! Our socials vary year to year depending on our members but there will always be something for you no matter your interests! Our typically weekly socials fit around our training and race schedule, and are all uniquely tailored by our social secs. They range from classy Christmas dinners, messy costumed pub crawls, and chill brunch meetups.Training information: -Monday: Endurance, sprint and field track Sessions, meeting @ 6:25pm at Redbrick -Wednesday: Sprint & Field track Session, meeting @ 2:00pm at Redbrick-Wednesday: Endurance track Session, meeting @ 6:55pm at Redbrick-Thursday: Run Club, meeting @ 6:00pm at Redbrick (Free with the group run membership)-Saturday: Endurance Grass Session, meeting @ 8:25am at Redbrick -Saturday: Strength & Conditioning, meeting @ 12:30 at Wide Lane-Sunday: Long run meeting @ 9am at RedbrickRedbrick is the area between The Stags pub and the SUSU shop on Highfield Campus! This timetable will be the case in most weeks, however, make sure you join the WhatsApp community (link below) to stay up to date!By no means does any member have to attend every training session you can choose and join in with as many or as few as you like.To find out more about SUACC visit our website: https://sotonuniacc.wordpress.com/Join our Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SUACCC/Follow our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/uniofsotonacc/ Join our WhatsApp community: https://chat.whatsapp.com/LlTSxdTyaX5AOLtIvasB4bPlease do not hesitate to send one of the club accounts a message or drop us an email (accc@soton.ac.uk) if you have any questions!

Run Club Membership 26/27
FreeValid: 14 Sep 2026 – 14 Sep 2027
Our Group Run membership is perfect for beginners! This membership allows you to join in with our weekly Run Club on Thursdays. These sessions include the ‘couch to 5km’, 5km, 7km, and 10km groups. All groups are very relaxed social runs and anyone is welcome to come, at any level of fitness. Group Run members are also welcome to join us at Saturday parkruns and Sunday Long Runs. This membership also grants you access to social events and trips, however for the subsidised events you would need to pay as you go. The group is typically quite big and the group leaders will be wearing high-visibility vests so it is a safe way to go out for regular runs. There is also insurance cover when you take up this membership. Everyone is welcome to join, regardless of ability, gender etc! Please note: This membership option is strictly for those who just attend Run Club and does not grant access to any other part of the club and is by no means a back-door entrance to the full membership.
